Behind every performance is a group of dedicated volunteers working to ensure a friendly, successful and smooth operation.
Qualifications in general
- Interest in event planning, hospitality or non-profit arts management
- Solid understanding of excellent customer service practices
- Excellent communication and organization skills, bilingual
- Attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-past environment with a friendly demeanor
- Tact, diplomacy, and flexibility
- Valid driver license, proof of insurance and own reliable transportation
Volunteer benefits and responsibilities
BENEFITS
In appreciation of your work as a volunteer of Montreal Bach Festival benefits will be provided as follows:
- Opportunity for involvement in an excellent international festival and educational symposium
- Free concert tickets: for every two shifts worked, you may request one ticket for concert
- Invitation to the closing reception
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a volunteer and an ambassador of Montreal Bach Festival, you will be responsible for the following:
- attending one volunteer orientation session
- arriving for your shift at least 15 minutes prior to your start time
- checking in with the head volunteer upon arrival and checking out on
departure
- volunteer for at least two shifts
Note: Festival volunteers are requested to dress in business attire.
Administration
The Bach-Académie office benefits from volunteer assistance 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday trough Friday (during Festival time, weekend hours will be added.)
Volunteer receptionists greet the public, answer the phone and assist with general office needs and event planning, mailings, packing of information for special events and festival events; pre Festival Launch events, decoration, poster distribution.
Ushers
Volunteers can assist on the production side of the Festival as ushers, ticket handlers and by distributing programs. Training is provided.
Front of House
Lobby set-up & front of house support
Ensure banners are displayed, sponsor signage is up. Assist Front of House Staff as needed. Hand out programs etc.
Hospitality
Refreshments are served to our musicians and stage crew during rehearsal breaks and concert intermissions and at special after-concert receptions. Your assistance with set-up, serving (food and beverage is provided) and clean-up will be very much appreciated.
Artist Transportation
Every festival we are arranging transportation for our arriving musicians from the airport to their respective housing locations. The musicians arrive in the week before and during the Festival week. If you have any time, your assistance will be greatly appreciated and you will have a wonderful experience meeting our artists first hand.
Ticketing
The Ticketing Department is particularly in need of volunteers to take and process ticket orders. Responsibilities range from data entry in our program to assisting patrons in the box office during performance times. Volunteers are provided with in-depth information and training.
